# Statement of Faith of the Baptist Church in Olomouc

> Statement of faith of the Baptist church in Olomouc: one God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Bible as the Word of God, believer’s baptism and church life.

**About the church**

1. I believe that there is only one eternal God in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, according to the Christian creed:

*I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead, he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty, from where he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.*

2. I have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord. In repentance I have received from him the forgiveness of sins and a new, eternal life (Mark 16:16, John 3:16, Rom 10:9, 1 John 5:11-13).

   On the profession of my faith I have been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matt 28:19-20, Acts 2:38).

   I have opened my heart to the Holy Spirit and want to be led by him (Acts 1:8, Rom 8:14, Gal 4:6, 5:16, Eph 5:18 Kralice Bible).

3. I believe that the Bible, the Old and New Testament, is the Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the binding authority for the church (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:20-21, John 17:17).

4. In faith and in prayer I have received the assurance that I am a child of God and belong to God’s family (John 1:12, Eph 2:19). I want to love my brothers and sisters in Christ, pray for them, help them carry their burdens and accept correction from one another (1 Thess 5:11, 1 John 4:7,11-12, Gal 6:1-5).

   I believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which I have become a part. I want to take an active part in the life of my church, both by attending its gatherings and by serving in practical ways according to the gifts I have received or will receive from the Lord (Heb 10:25, Rom 12:3-8, 1 Cor 12, Eph 4:11-16).

   I also want to support my church financially (1 Cor 16:1-2, Mal 3:10, Heb 13:16).

5. I accept the pastors and elders of the church as those whom the Lord has entrusted with this ministry. I will not allow anything to damage our relationship. I want to pray for them with love and accept their leadership. I want to share openly with them about everything that concerns the life and ministry of the church (1 Thess 5:12-13, 1 Tim 5:17-20, Heb 13:17).
